Home MenuPittsburg Water delivery system
Our team manages Pittsburg’s water treatment plant and ensures that the pipes, pumps and meters that help us deliver your water are working well.
We continually look to make wise investments in the long-term infrastructure and water efficiency tools that keep your water service flowing. Your water meter, for example, was upgraded recently to support more accurate and timely monitoring of the water your use, and detect leaks. We calculate your bill every month based on actual water usage, so you don’t have to pay for water you don’t use. Together with Pittsburg Water, you can be as efficient as you need to be with your water.
Some other projects we have on the horizon include upgrades to our Highlands Ranch Reservoir, water main replacement at 11th Street, new filters at the treatment plant, and a multi-year program that upgraded 18,000 meters to an automatic meter reading system.
Pittsburg Water manages seven pump stations and eight drinking water storage reservoirs.
We produce 3,279 million gallons of safe water each year.
We proudly meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s safety and quality standards 100 percent of the time.

Water Service Line Inventory
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established requirements for water systems to develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of service line materials in order to effectively address the issue of lead contamination in drinking water.
According to the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), all water systems are mandated to prepare an initial inventory of their service line materials. This inventory must be submitted to state primacy agencies by the deadline of October 16, 2024. This initiative aims to ensure that all service lines are properly identified and assessed for any potential lead content.
In 2024, the City of Pittsburg undertook a systematic approach to compile this inventory. The process involved multiple methods: conducting thorough visual inspections of the existing infrastructure, examining historical records related to the materials used in service lines, and applying statistical analysis to evaluate the data collected. This comprehensive assessment focused on identifying the types of materials present in the water service lines extending from the main supply line to the meter box and from the meter box to the building's inlet.
The data collected was recorded in the water service line inventory and submitted to the State Water Resources Control Board for review and compliance verification. This process ensures adherence to EPA regulations and promotes safer drinking water for the community.
